  10. Since last year massive RCC road renewal work has been undertaken by SMC and this tree is standing last against the fast track RCC road. SMC under the able guidance of Commissioner Ms Aparna (IAS) has saved many trees possible during this work that were prompted and requested by PRAYAS Team Environment. But this was a real challenge. SMC and TEAM PRAYAS joined hands to save this one. PRAYAS TEAM

  16. The season was right, the road work also was on the last stage, the damage to the tree would have been major even if the RCC work would have done around the tree. On may 20th, 2010, TEAM PRAYAS took up the TRANSPLANTATION for this Banyan tree with guidance from the Commissioner. PRAYAS TEAM

  17. Since it’s a heavy traffic road, the job was decided to be done during night hours. Trimming was done in day time, resulting branches were converted into grafting, and were planted to have over 40 mini-Banyan trees at Althan area. Credits to the Garden Department Staff. It took 2 hours, 1 Hydra Crane, 1 Heavy JCB CAT Machine, 1 Water Tanker, and a force of team PRAYAS members to complete the task starting at 00.10 hrs on 20th to 02.00 hrs. PRAYAS TEAM

  20. Fresh leaves have started to show after 30 days of transplant as the monsoon has arrived last week PRAYAS TEAM

  21. Monsoon brought a new life to the tree…and a relief to us as we are now sure that the transplant has succeeded. PRAYAS TEAM

  24. The maharaj told that over 1000 ladies again performed pooja today during the days time. PRAYAS TEAM

  25. It was a Win – Win – Win for development, environment and the religious sentiments of the citizens of Surat. PRAYAS TEAM
