Transportation Maintenance Equipment Developed for Lesson 1: Maintaining Public Works Vehicles and Equipment
Transportation Maintenance • People who work in transportation maintenance focus on making sure that vehicles, ships, planes, and loading equipment are in good working order to move freight. They fuel these carriers and do preventive maintenance on all equipment. They also work to make sure infrastructure such as roads and bridges are maintained properly.
Equipment Categories • Based on the New York State Department of Transportation, equipment used by workers in the transportation maintenance field is broken into 3 categories. Each of the categories requires a different set of skills and/or certifications to operate and maintain. • https://www.dot.ny.gov/programs/trns-maint-train/eval-guides
