FINDING TEACHERS • Classroom teachers play a unique role • that can make them especially effective as • Young Life Leaders. • But, when we say ‘Teachers’ we mean anyone who works with kids in & around the school setting. Educators. Teachers. School Personnel. Coaches. Lunch Ladies. Secretaries. Bus drivers. Librarians. Substitute teachers ...

  5. WHO do you want on yourTeacher-Loving-Teacher-ChasingTeacher Team? • Current Teacher-Leaders? Committee? • Leaders? Donors? Campaigners? • Retired Teachers? Parents?

  6. FINDING TEACHERS • 1. Pray. • 2. Pray without ceasing. • 3. Find others who LOVE TEACHERS. • 4. Ask the right questions with the right people.

  7. The Right Questions: • - Which teachers are the most liked AND respected? • - Who are the students’ favorite Teacher? Why? • - What school personnel enjoy their job the most? • - Who goes ‘above & beyond’ for the students? • - Who cares most about the kids who are hurting? • - Who loves Jesus, loves kids & and is liked by students? • - Which teachers care about kids spiritually? • - Who likes to have FUN with students? • - Learn to speak a Teacher’s Language or take someone who can!

The Right People: • - Our current Young Life Teacher-Leaders. • - Young Life Teacher-Leaders in the Next School Over. • - Other Jesus-Loving, Kid-Loving Teachers. • - Club and Campaigner Kids! • - The school secretary, principal or superintendent. • - The people who know Young Life AND their school. • - People who know teachers at their church. • - Pastors and church secretaries. • - Retired Teachers. • - PTA or Booster Club Members. • - Mom’s In Touch. • - Parents.

  13. INVITING TEACHERS to consider YOUNG LIFE • Before you pursue teachers, remember that: • Teachers have a high calling. • Encourage them! • Let them know we are their biggest fan. • Even if YL Leadership is not for them, we want them to be our friends and prayer-partners! • .

INVITING TEACHERS • Young Life Leadership is not for every JLKL Teacher! • We are looking for those who ... • - are liked by kids. • - respected by their colleagues. • - have enough energy to enjoy Young Life. • - want to have fun with their students. • - want to tell kids about Christ. • - relate to kids in a relational & winsome way
