  2. Introduction Can be basic facts of president’s life: Barak Obama was born on August 1, 1961. His father was not around, and he was raised by his mother and grandmother. No one would have guessed that this man would be the one to change history.

  3. Or… it can be catchy Yes we can! Many will remember these words for many years to come. President Barak Obama, the first African American to get elected president of the United States, has done much to change the face of American history. While his legacy continues to be written, the impact of his presidency will be felt for many years to come.

  4. Another way Born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Barack Obama is the 44th and current president of the United States. He was a civil-rights lawyer and teacher before pursuing a political career. He was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996, serving from 1997 to 2004. He was elected to the U.S. presidency in 2008. –

  5. Chronological Barack Hussein Obama was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His mother, Ann Dunham, grew up in Wichita, Kansas, where her father worked on oil rigs during the Great Depression. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dunham's father, Stanley, enlisted in the service and marched across Europe in Patton's army. Dunham's mother, Madelyn, went to work on a bomber assembly line. After the war, the couple studied on the G.I. Bill, bought a house through the Federal Housing Program and, after several moves, landed in Hawaii.

While studying at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, Obama Sr. met fellow student Ann Dunham, and despite interracial marriages being illegal, they married on February 2, 1961. Barack was born six months later.

  8. Conclusion To have an African American president elected to the United States, is an amazing accomplishment for both Barak Obama and for the United States as well. Obama’s beginnings were not easy, but as a teenager, he began to define himself. He stood out in the African American community early on, but, the more people learned about him, the more he began to look like a presidential candidate. President Obama’s legacy has not been written yet, but whether you agree with his politics or not, he will always stand out as the first African American president of the United States.
