3. Albuquerque Metro Area Fiber Project • Collaborative project between CHECS and New Mexico GSD • GSD has ability and to Acquire Dark fiber Ring, but no resources for equipment or lateral extensions • Agreed major access nodes around the city, each was selected because it provided needed assets

Albuquerque Metro Area Fiber Project • Why we selected these sites • One is a Major GSD Communication and aggregation site • One is where Rio Grande Fiber Project and Metro Ring intersect as well as provide access to the National Lambda Rail • One is a site with raised flooring and access to many other telecommunication vendors

10. LANL Connection to I2 • Collaborative project between LANL and CHECS • LANL needed high speed connection to Internet2 (Abilene) at least 1 Gbps • Developed MOU • Upgraded the Internet2 connection to an oc48 (2.5 Gbps) • Establishing direct peering with ESNET

LANL Connection to I2 • 1 Gbps is dedicated to LANL • The remainder dedicated to CHECS-Net • About ten fold increase in Bandwidth • Bottom Line Additional Bandwidth without additional costs for the CHECS-Net • About ten fold increase bandwidth • LANL picking up increased costs • An example of collaborative networking

Rio Grande Corridor Fiber Project • CHECS Partnership with GSD • Leasing 2 fiber pair up and down the Rio Grande Corridor • Will be a shared infrastructure with different logical networks • Will use DWDM equipment to maximize bandwidth availability • The goal is to begin provisioning the network by January 06

Eastern New Mexico Fiber Project • Eastern Part of the State is Bandwidth Poor • Expensive to connect to the rest of the state • Submitting a proposal to HED • To Acquire provision Dark fiber acquired by GSD • Ties into the Rio Grande Corridor fiber Project • Need to partner to fund • From Santa Fe to Raton • From El Paso to Carlsbad • Digital Microwave from Carlsbad to Hobbs
