  2. Hydrogen • Just the name causes lots of FUD • Almost wouldn't sell it to us in the beginning • Now almost can't buy Helium • Demands respect, but mostly the same as Helium

  3. Hydrogen • Uses different fittings than He (CGA-350) • Recommended to use regulator (although they recommend for He too) • Is flammable under right conditions

  4. HydrogenFlammability • Hindenburg's rocket-fuel-doped (thermalite) skins were probably a contributing factor • Hydrogen WILL NOT BURN without the presence of Oxygen • Regulators theoretically reduce the risk of friction/spark ignition, BUT see note 2 above • A leaky cylinder inside of a vehicle would be VERY dangerous

  8. HydrogenWhat's Needed? • CGA-350 (Hydrogen) to CGA-580 (Nitrogen) Adapter • Same apparatus that is used for Helium • Some common sense and forethought

  9. DON'T transport inside vehicles DON'T smoke DON'T fill indoors HydrogenDo's and Don'ts • DO prevent air from entering balloon • DO purge the fill line • DO take static-electricity precautions • DO carry fire extinguishers
