  1. Restoring the Place of the Apostles

  2. We must seek to build upon the foundation that God has provided. • Where did the Lord place the apostles before us? (Eph 2:20)

  3. We must seek to build upon the foundation that God has provided. • Ephesians 2:20- having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,

  4. We must seek to build upon the foundation that God has provided. • Why are we told this? What if we build on another foundation? • The consequences of this neglect are all around us.

  5. We must seek to build upon the foundation that God has provided. • "God said it, I believe it, that settles it"...Uhhh...no...God said it, someone translated it into your language divorcing it from its own culture, you read it with a preconceived belief lens, then interpreted it and became convinced in your heart you knew what meant even though it bore no resemblance to the original audience or culture it was spoken into to begin with...”

  6. We must seek to build upon the foundation that God has provided. • Whose voice do we really hear – the writings of men or the delivered words of the apostles? (1 Jn 4:5-6)

  7. We must seek to build upon the foundation that God has provided. • 1 John 4:5-6- They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

  8. We must seek to build upon the foundation that God has provided. • While Jesus spoke many words, He wrote nothing. How then does He speak to us? • God worked a plan through Jesus to give us a confirmed, written word. • Any generation that does not understand this process is in great danger. • Men in rebellion seek other subjective ways other than relying on God. (Isa 50:10-11; Prov 3:5-7)

  9. We must seek to build upon the foundation that God has provided. • Isaiah 50:10-11 - " Who among you fears the LORD? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness And has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD And rely upon his God. 11 Look, all you who kindle a fire, Who encircle yourselves with sparks: Walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks you have kindled -- This you shall have from My hand: You shall lie down in torment.

  10. We must seek to build upon the foundation that God has provided. • Proverbs 3:5-7 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.

  17. God’s eternal plan involves delivered words • John 5:30 - "I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

  18. God’s eternal plan involves delivered words • Peter was to feed only on the words that were given to Jesus. (Jn 6:63, 68)

  28. God’s eternal plan involves delivered words • The example set by Jesus was instilled in the apostles. (Jn 17:14-19)

  29. Your word is truth. 18 "As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 "And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

  30. God’s eternal plan involves delivered words • The genuine words of God will be hated by the world. • How did Jesus “sanctify” Himself? He emphasized and lived staying within the words that God delivered to Him. • It is more than a “narrative.” (Jn 17:26)
