Suitability and Security clearance • Suitability and Security Clearance is required for • ADEN Member Point of Contact • Member staff providing SSA Work Incentives advisement • Additional Member staff if they will be accessing the ADEN portal • The process is an extensive background check. If your history includes an event that concerns you (i.e. fraud, criminal history) contact ADEN Administration before proceeding. • The process has numerous steps and is priority to complete thoroughly, following the instructions in all emails related to this task. • You only need to go through this process once.
Suitability and Security clearance • After all the steps are complete, SSA makes a determination if you are suitable or not. • We are here to help you if any problems occur during this process. Contact Kevin if you have any problems. • You are not permitted to contact SSA unless directed by Kevin or Mary Lynn. • SSA refers to the person who is seeking security clearance an “applicant”
If you have SSA Security Clearance • Email Kevin (knickerson@ndi-inc.org) • State you have clearance from Social Security Administration. • He will inform you what steps are needed to complete the “SSA Contractor Rollover Request”
If you do not have SSA clearance • Step 1: Complete forms mentioned in your email and read below • Go to Members Resources, find the SSA Security Forms and print out the form. • SSA Security Awareness Form (SSA 222) • Fair Credit Act form and Declaration for Federal Employment (OF 306) form • If you are born out of the country, a Work Authorization form needs to added to the list of forms required. • Fill out as instructed. The form needs to be a PDF. • Scan and upload each form separately to your computer and attach them as a note in your portal record. • Email Kevin (knickerson@ndi-inc.org) to inform him this information was attached to your portal record. • If the forms are completed accurately, Kevin will submit to SSA; If incomplete, Kevin will contact you.
Step 2: complete eQIP • SSA will email Kevin an invitation for you to complete the eQIP, which will be immediately forward to you. This email is time sensitive. • You must login and complete within 10 days after receipt of the email. (Do not let this link expire). • If you want to get prepared while waiting for your eQIP invitation, review the information of what is asked in the eQIP at http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/sf85.pdf. • Once all questions in the eQIP form are completed and you have validated, you will submit the information to SSA electronically.
Step 3: complete Fingerprint • SSA has a list of places posted on an internet where you will get your fingerprints taken. You can only use one of these places. • You must schedule an appointment as soon as you get the email with the instructions and complete this step within 10 days. • There is a charge to get fingerprinting doneand your agency is responsible to pay for it; ADEN does not. • The fingerprints will be sent to SSA electronically. • Email Kevin when you have completed this step.
Step 4: Notification • SSA will email “letter of determination” to Kevin the results. • Kevin will forward the letter to the ADEN Memberand place a copy of SSA Security Clearance letter to individual’s record in the ADEN Portal.
