Chalk Dust…No Not Us • Interwrite School Pads in every classroom • Projectors in all classrooms • School set of Ipods; GPS units; Net books; Laptops and we’ve begun building a Ipad set • 2 Academic Computer Labs • In math classrooms, class sets of TI 73 calculators for 7th grade and TI 81/83 for 8th grade

Learning Centered School • We are all being trained on “the Big 6” • OVERT RESPONSES expected daily These include White Board Use Thumbs Up Fist to Five Ticket out the Door • We are expected to constantly access our students’ understanding and readjust our instruction based on their responses
Our Catch • With middle schoolers, you must have a catch • For me – it’s saying “MATH IS” and students reply “AWESOME” • Or, I say math terms in odd ways like MuliPLIcative Inverse (it’s amazing how stressing a syllable in a different way peeks their curiosity

Keep Math Activities Relevant • Finish Scale Drawing Instruction – ask students to design their DREAM Bedroom • After One step and Two Step Equations - ask students to create board games that incorporate equation solving • Take a trip – with maps and rules, ask students to convert measured to actual distances
