First Stage: Baby When the rattlesnake is born, it is protected by the mother for the first seven or ten days of its’ life. After one or two weeks, baby rattlesnakes shed for the first time and start to grow their first rattles, but the snake has a low chance of survival due to predators. The rattler on the end of its’ tail, not fully devolped yet, cannot make the rattle sound to scare away predators as a fully devoloped rattler on an adult rattlesnake can.
