tools for EWCs TRAINING in so far as this is necessary for the exercise of theirrepresentative duties in an international environment,the members of the SNB and of the EWC shall beprovided with training without loss of wages • right to training • SNB ánd EWC • paid by the company • what is ‘necessary’ ? • who determines the programme ? • who delivers the training ? • how often and how long ? • members and deputies ? • collectively or individually ? • need to negotiate • make sure you have your say !

tools for EWCs • transposition by Member States • Germany act of 14.06.2011 §38 • the EWC may designate members to take part in training • the EWC shall notify management of participation and date • any expenses shall be borne by central management • Hungary act CV of 2011 • considered as necessary training : providing knowledge needed for fulfilling the activity, communication and language skills, understanding legal and labour background, international structure and strategy of the company • applications shall contain training needs, content and reasons why it is necessary • applications shall not be rejected if reasonably necessary

tools for EWCs • company examples • Air France KLM (1997) • members and deputies are entitled to 8 days collective training during the term of office of 4 years • costs shall be borne by the company • organisation shall be approved according to applicable legislation and recommended by ETUC • content shall be defined by mutual agreement • Cegelec (2002) • 5 days training on Europe’s economic and social environment during 4 year mandate for members and deputies • max 5 days/year for members training on the European dimension organised by the ETUC/ETUF
tools for EWCs • company examples • Arcelor Mittal (2002) • organised jointly by HR and SC • members and alternates benefit from economic, financial and social training and language courses • 12 days during term of office of 4 years6 days organised by HR, 6 days organised by trade unionsafter approval by HR • participation is compulsory • AXA (2005) • 75 hours/year for language training for SC members • 2 x 3 days for members and alternates during 4 year mandate • programme developped by HR and secretary, part will be established solely by trade unions • one session paid by management, one session on EWC budget
