Purpose • Windows 7 • Microsoft ceased mainstream support for XP in 2009 and currently only provides extended support into 2014. • AATECH skipped the Vista upgrade due to outdated equipment in customer areas and available support remaining in the XP life cycle. • Vendors no longer sell XP and developers will begin phasing out their support for it (e.g., drivers, applications, etc).
Purpose continued • Office 2010 • End of mainstream support for Office 2007 is 2012. Unknown whether extended support through 2017 will be available. • User interface differences between Office 2007 and Office 2010 are minimal. • Can use “Save & Send” to create PDF files (e.g., in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).
