  2. Outline • Prototyping goals • Short term areas of focus • General cleanup and bug fixing • Enhance In-Context Creation (ICC) • Enhance Drag & Link (D&L) • Additional long term features

  3. Prototyping Goals (Short Term) • All current features work as expected • Clear, consistent functionality • Intuitive and easy to use • Focus on strengths: • ICC • D&L • Completion date: 3/6

  4. General Cleanup and Bug Fixing (Short Term) • Menu functionality bugs • Cut, copy, paste, delete do nothing • Toolbar functionality bugs • Labels on tooltips for several items are incorrect • Disable “Promote”/”Demote” buttons when the action is not possible. • Remove “Font” toolbar • Many bugs • Offers no useful features • We will enforce a good scheme for font size/bold/italics/color for items per level.

Enhance ICC (Short Term) • User Experience • Use current position as point of insertion • Remove save dialog • Place icon/link at insertion point • Multiple icons on single line allowed • Tooltip shows filename (or email subject) • Left click opens file • Right click shows context menu with “rename”, ”delete”

Enhance D&L (Short Term) • User Experience • Place icon/link at insertion point, after pasted content • Handle all target applications properly • Outlook email message body • Outlook email message (from list – ex. Inbox) • Word document (when file not saved) • Powerpoint (low priority) • Any file can be dragged from file explorer • Web (already working) • Excel (cannot work)

  8. Testing (Short Term) • Time has been budgeted in the schedule for testing. • Goal should be to have a stable, working version that is "safe" to use for the fieldwork • If another, later, revision is stable enough to use for the study we can use that instead.

  9. Additional Features (Medium Term) • Synchronization with file system (1) • Don’t handle background changes while Planner running • Create Outlook calendar reminder from Planner and show due dates on items (2) • Vista / Office 2007 compatibility (2) • Integration with file explorer (2) • D&L from Outlook calendar (3) • Proper Outlook integration (3) • Track email responses to email sent • ICC for “web session” (3) • Mind mapping view (3)

  10. Additional Features (Long Term) • Integrate “paste structure” • ICC for “web session” • Downloadable organizers (templates) • Page layout view (alternate view of outline with graphics, etc.)
