National Development Plan • Agriculture development will be pursued according to the 2004 zoning strategy by MAAIF that divided the country into ten agricultural production zones. • Efforts will be made to support commodity value chain development of strategic commodities in the different zones in order to create viable agro-industrial development
National Export Strategy • Possess or have the potential to possess significant competitive advantage • Possess or have the potential to possess high value-addition • Already contribute significantly to employment, regional development, gender equity • Have a high potential developmental impact • Experiencing high growth in international demand • Potential to mainstream gender and vulnerable groups into export trade

Economic Development targets to 2012 Overall contribution to the National Development Plan’s 8.1% annual growth rate; • with a agricultural growth rate of 6% as per the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), • thus reducing the proportion of people living below the poverty line to 17.7 % by 2015 in line with the MDG target.
