Developing a Downloadable Audiobook Collection in an Academic Library Amy Baptist ~ Southeastern Louisiana University cool… Here’s a story of two SLU librarians who started a pilot project for adding eAudiobooks to their university’s Library. See highlights of the steps they took along the way. VOILA ! SLU students can now listen to Hamlet on their iPods while they climb the StairMaster, or “tune in” to Paradise Lost on their commute home. Idea! eAudiobooks seem tailor-made for today’s college student. Especially useful for serving commuter students, who make up large % at SLU. Compatibility is Key Only purchased audiobooks available as both WMA and MP3 files. Any title can be accessed with either MicroSoft or Apple devices. Selection Wanted unabridged titles relevant to SLU classes. Chose titles for which hearing the text read aloud could enhance understanding & appreciation . Acquisitions & Mergers Purchase request and payment. Then loaded Vendor Records into Library’s Catalog No Funding??
