  4. Lk 15: 11-32 The parable of the Compassionate Father “ His heart was moved with compassion” Lk.10: 30-35 The parable of the Good Samaritan “ His heart was filled with compassion” Compassion found 12 times in the Gospels used only to describe Jesus and the Father

  5. When Jesus sees pain, suffering, misery he becomes part of it Mark 1:40-45 Curing of the leper “ When he saw the leper, he was moved with compassion” Luke 7:Raising of the son of the widow of Naim “ When the Lord saw her, his heart was filled with compassion”

  7. Compassion: is Solidarity, Oneness It is Not a gesture of sympathy or pity to those who have failed to make it. It is a “Coming down” into human misery, pitching our tent and loving it through. It is a consciousness of being part of humanity, an awareness of the oneness of the human race. It is a participating in the pain and misery

  8. The cross remains THE revelation of God’s unconditional, compassionate love

  9. Be compassionate as your Father is compassionate.

  10. Find your home in the Universal Heart of our Compassionate God • Be part of what God is blessing • Relieve suffering by working to change systems as well as by “hands on” helping.

Compassion Afire with Christ Committed to Life “Let us then take our daily personal time seriously for contemplating God’s presence in each person starting with our fellow sisters and then in people we meet daily. And only then can we learn how to respect every person despite differences in ideas, colors, religions, culture etc. That is the gift the world longs for at this moment .” (CLT)‏
