Landform Wonders of the World Tour We will visit seven wonders that are truly remarkable feats of the landform world that you have studied.
Seven Landform Wonders of the World • Angel Falls, Venezuela • Himalyas, India • Ayers Rock (Uluru), Australia • Guilin, China • Grand Canyon, USA • Great Barrier Reef, Australia • Iguassu Falls, South America
Angel Falls • Angel Fallsis located in Canaima National Park, Venezuela in a remote jungle. It is the highest waterfall in the world, more than twice the height of the Empire State Building, and three times the height of the Eiffel Tower.
Himalayas, India In the heart of southern Asia is located the loftiest Landform chain on earth. Forming a geographical divide that separates the Indian subcontinent from Central Asia, the Himalayas extend from west to east in a massive arc for about 2500 kilometers (1550 miles).
THE ROCK: AYERS ROCK • Long called Uluru (“sacred place”) by the Aborigines, Ayers Rockis located in central Australia in the Northern Territory. It is the world's largest monolith, rising 862.5 meters (1,143 feet high) and covers an area of 2 square miles.
Guilin Range, China • There is a popular saying about Guilin, "the Landforms and water of Guilin are the finest under heaven." Guilin is located in southern China and is famous for its dramatic peaks, clear waters, caves, and long history.
Grand Canyon, USA • Measured in Colorado River miles, the Grand Canyonis 277 miles long and begins at Lees Ferry and ends at the Grand Wash Cliffs. It is 18 miles across at its widest point and consists of more than one million acres of land! At the North Rim (which has only seasonal access) it is 6000 feet (1829 meters) deep.

Great Barrier Reef, Australia • The Great Barrier Reefstretches along the east coast of Queensland in Australia. It is the world's largest coral reef . It is over 2000km (1250 miles) long! It is not a single reef at all. It is made up of over 2900 individual reefs very close to each other.
Iguassu Falls, South America • Iguassu Falls is on the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Iguaçú comes means Great Water. The falls are a mile long and 100 yards high, and consist of 275 separate falls.
Tomorrow our table groups will look at books, magazines and other interesting items from our library, about four different types of landforms. Each group will rotate after 15 minutes, as we have done before. Where will your group start?
