  14. New Public Transport Act 2012 The new Actregulates public transport on the railways, on tram and rapid light-rail systems, on the roads, on the metro and with ferries. The Actcomesinto force on 1 january 2012

New Public Transport Act 2012 A regional public transport authoritywill be set up in eachcounty with responsibility for all regional public transport (within the county and for commuting to and from work or for othertravel of a dailynature). The authoritywill be organised in the form of a regional federation of localauthorities or a joint committee, or alternativelywithin the countycouncil.

  16. New Public Transport Act 2012 The regional public transport authorityshalldraw up and decide on a public transport provision programme. The programmeshallincorporate all forms of regional transport and give expression to the need for regional public transport within the county and the goals for public transport provision.

New Public Transport Act 2012 The authorityshalldecide on a general obligation to provide public transport The decisionmayonlyconcern regional public transport (within the county and commuting to and from work, or someother form of dailytravel) All general public transport obligations shallstem from the public transport provision programme It shall be possible to appealagainstdecisions on the obligation to provide public transport

New Public Transport Act 2012 Following a decision on the general obligation to provide public transport, work shall start on the procurement process and agreementsshall be enteredinto An authoritymay transfer the right intoagreements on public transport to a limitedliabilitycompany or to a localauthoritywithin the county Sole rights are not allowed to be granted as a service in return for the fulfilment of the general obligation to provide public transport

New Public Transport Act 2012 Public transport companies are entitled to establishcommercial public transport A requirement that the transport companyshallinform the regional public transport authoritybefore the commencement of services and before the conclusion of services A requirement that the transport companyshall provide information on the range of transport services it offers for a common system of passenger information
