  5. He was born to die • Revelation 13:8 – “All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.”

  6. He was born to die • What do you want to be remembered for?

  7. He was born to die • 1 Thessalonians 2:19, 20 - “For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy.

  8. He was born to die • Revelation 12:4 – “The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born.” • Faced death at birth… • Faced death through temptation… • Faced death from church members…

  9. Two Texts • -“From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:45, 46). • -“Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this he breathed his last.” (Luke 23:46).

  10. What kind of Father? • John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” • 1 John 3:16 – “This is how we know what love is: Jesus laid down his life for us.”

  13. Matter of the heart • Genesis 49:10 – Jesus will come from the tribe of Judah. • Isaiah 9:7 – Jesus will be a descendant of King David. • Daniel 8, 9 – Tells when Jesus would be born. • Micah 5:2 – Tells where Jesus would be born.

  14. Matter of the heart • The religious leaders were caught up in power wars… • The common people were following orders and trying to survive… • There were a few like Simeon and Anna that recognized the Messiah…
