Temperate Rainforest Biodiversity • Plant Species: Douglas fir, Western red cedar, Spruce, Mosses, Lichens. • Animal species: black bears, cougar, bobcat, endangered northeastern spotted owl, threatened marbled murrelet, salamander, wolf, , lynx, elk, deer, salmon.
Temperate rainforestAdaptations Needed for Survival • Plant: The Spruce tree is tall so it can get sunlight. • Animal: The cougar is fast so it can catch its pray.
Temperate RainforestInteractions of Biotic and Abiotic • Biotic: Birds eat cones when they fall from trees, deer feed on the grass • Abiotic: water helps trees grow, water such as streams support amphibians.
What is Biodiversity? • Biodiversity is the variety of life in a specific biome or ecosystem.
How does biodiversity contribute to the sustainability of an ecosystem? • If we didn’t have biodiversity then the ecosystem would crash because there would be no life.
