Today, you will learn about 6 Chinese animals. You will learn about the Chinese Alligator, Chinese Crocodile Lizard, Giant Panda, Golden Monkey, River Dolphin, Chinese Sleeper. They all live in China. There are 3,800 species of fish and hundreds of amphibians and reptiles species live in the rivers and lakes of China. Also, China has more than hundreds of animal species.
ENDANGERED The top 10 endangered species in China are, the Giant Panda, White Fang Dolphin, Golden Stub Nosed Monkey, South China tiger, Crested Ibis, Brown Eared Pheasant, Chinese Alligator, Black Necked Crane, and Pere David’s Deer. The Chinese government has created more than 1,200 reserved to protect Chinese animal species. Expanded deserts in China shrink the animal habitat. Some endangered animals
Mammals There are many mammals in China. Some mammals in China are only found in china. An example of that is a Giant Panda and a River Dolphin. Also mammals in China are the same as some you would find in other countries. They all are warm blooded and give birth to their babies. Though some animals you will learn about today live in the water like the River Dolphin. These are some Chinese Mammals
River Dolphin The River Dolphin lives in China. When the River Dolphin grows up to be an adult it is bubble gum pink. Also River Dolphins are rare. The River Dolphin is a mammal not a fish. They come up to the surface for oxygen. They also give birth to their young. The young drink their mothers milk. The adult River Dolphin weighs up to 70-110 kilograms. Giant Panda The Giant Panda lives in China. They have black pounders around their eyes. Also the giant panda’s a shape of a typical bear. The panda’s diet is 99% bamboo. In addition the Giant Panda is the most endangered animal species in China. This is a giant panda eating bamboo
Reptiles Reptiles in China are the same reptiles you would see any where else on earth. They are all cold blooded and give birth to their babies by eggs. Though some live in the water like one you will learn about today the Chinese Alligator. Also some of the reptiles are endangered species. This is a Chinese Alligator. If you look close you will be able to see their strong teeth
Chinese Crocodile lizard The Chinese Crocodile Lizard lives in cool forests in China. It’s pray is insects, snails, tadpoles and worms. They are 40-46cm and (16-18in) long. This is the only species in the monotypic genus family. Also the male is more colorful than the female especially during breeding season. A study in 2008 estimates there are only 950 Crocodile Lizards left in China. This is a Chinese Crocodile Lizard resting/sleeping.
Chinese Alligator The Chinese Alligator is only native to china. It lives in the lakes & river of Tai, Yangtze, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui. Though the species is endangered. Usually the Chinese Alligator is only length of 5 five feet and a mass of 80 pounds (36 kg). Large males have reached 7 feet (2.1m) in a length and 100 pounds (45kg) weigh. Scientist think that the Chinese Alligators reaches 10 feet (3.0m) in centuries past. This is a Chinese Alligator looking for food
Chinese Sleeper Now you are going to learn about a type of fish called the Chinese Sleeper or Amur Sleeper, it lives in Northern China. It eats animals including other young fish and gnats worms. It’s afresh water fish in the monotype family or PerccotOdontobutidae genus. It prefers to live in rivers. The fish is sometime misspelled as glehni or glenhi . The size is 10-20 cm max 25 cm. They are overall brownish with large dark patches sometimes a checker or strip pattern. This is a Chinese Sleeper traveling back to it’s home
