Project Objectives • To create a network of led walking groups within targeted populations in selected areas of Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire • To create a pool of trained volunteer walk leaders • To establish a range of intervention frameworks and associated support system to promote sustainability
Outputs – Objective 1 • Huntly Mental Health • Walk from home • Fraserburgh (Older adults) • Northfield & Mastrick (diabetes)
Outputs – Objective 2 • Walk Leader training course held July 2007. • Second course – February 2008.
Outputs – Objective 3 • Volunteer policy & procedures • Framework for range of target groups
Evaluation • Complete end of February • Physical activity questionnaire • Well-being questionnaire • Qualitative – comments book
Outcomes & Learning – Huntly • Committed & enthusiastic participants • Importance of social aspect • Encouraging behaviour change is complex
