Identifyingthe problem Problem Statement Western Michigan University females ages 18-24 find the risk of breast cancer irrelevant. They consequently lack awareness and education on the risks of breast cancer, benefits of early detection, and importance of monthly breast exams. Despite Sindecuse’s leadership and educational mission, their current lack of breast cancer programs results in the failure of female students to identify breast cancer as a health risk. Program Goal/Campaign Goal To spread awareness to female students to recognize the significance of breast cancer as a health risk and begin to perform precautionary measures
What Is It To Paint Yourself Pink? Paint Yourself Pink is all about you. You can make and be the difference. It is up to you, and you alone to Paint Yourself Pink and reduce your risk of breast cancer development. It is not solely to paint yourself pink with knowledge and awareness, but to live pink to the core. To live pink means to identify breast cancer as a health risk and to take the necessary precautions to minimize your personal risk.
Target Publics 1. Female students ages 18-24 at Western Michigan University with a hereditary disposition. 2. Female students ages 18-24 at Western Michigan University that currently use, have taken, or plan to take oral contraceptives. 3. Female students ages 18-24 at Western Michigan University that do not practice healthy routines.
Objectives Of The Campaign By October 30, 2010, to increase by 60% the number of WMU female students, ages 18-24, who know their individual risk of breast cancer. By October 30, 2010, to increase by 25% the number of WMU female students, ages 18-24, who do perform monthly self-breast exams. By October 30, 2010 to decrease by 40% the number of female students, ages 18-24, who believe the risk of breast cancer is irrelevant to their personal health.
