Wisconsin Fast Plants Life Cycle Members of Group: Chelsea Brobst, Mary Dassira, Sean Mondragon, Mike Holland John Sham Question: Does the type of light affect the growth and development of the Wisconsin Fast Plants?
How the Experiment was Conducted • First the seeds were planted in the soil. There were 2 seeds to a cell. • The EG was placed by a windowsill. Because the IV was the type of light. So it was grown under natural light. • Then the plants were observed for 40 days. Notes were taken on what was seen. Then the seeds were pollinated. Then the pods were harvested. And the seeds were taken out. Then graphs were made according to the data.
Number of seeds(2 per cell) Amount of soil (half of cell) Number of quads(2) Number of Algae squares(1per container) Control Variables • Number of fertilizer pellets(2) • The amount of time the experiment was conducted(40 days)
Results Graph 1 For the CG the most growth it did was in days 15-21. For the EG the most growth it did was in days 21-28. For the CG in days 21-24 the growth stayed the same. For the EG in days 13-15 the growth stayed the same.
Sources of Error • Temperature, Winter break, Snow Days • The light
Conclusion • The type of light does affect the growth and development of the Wisconsin fast plants. • It was also the amount of light because it was cloudy and at night there can’t be any sunlight.
Recommendations to Improve the Experiment • Get a heater to keep the plants at the right temperature. All the time. • Have a lower light for plants that grow slower.
