Honours Program in Art History • Total Credits: 60 • Distribution:Required Courses (9 credits) • ARTH 305 – Methods in Art History • ARTH 400 – Selected Methods in Art History • ARTH 401 – Honours Research Paper • Complementary Courses (51 credits) • Max. 15 credits at 200-level • Min. 6 credits at 400-level • Credits must be selected from at least six of the eight AH course fields • 6 credits in a foreign language or in courses in one or two related disciplines (consult with the Honours advisor) • Honours students must maintain a GPA of 3.30 in their program courses and a minimum of CGPA of 3.00 in general. • Honours students must complete a minor concentration (18 credits) in another acadmic unit. • NOTE: Possible to take max. 6 credits in Communication Studies, counted towards complementary courses. Joint Honours Program • Total Credits: 36 • Distribution:Required Courses (6 credits) • ARTH 305 – Methods in Art History • ARTH 400 – Selected Methods in Art History • ARTH 401 – Honours Research Paper • Complementary Courses (30 credits) • Max. 9 credits at 200-level • Min. 3 credits at 400-level • Credits must be selected from at least six of the eight AH course fields • Joint Honours students must maintain a GPA of 3.30 in their program courses and a min. Honours Program – Application Requirements • No pre-university requirements • Students are encouraged to apply for this program after their first year of study • Complete a minimum of 12 credits in Art History with a min. 14. 400 level Art History Courses 400 level course(s) are required for Major, Honours and Joint Honours students. Please consult with Maria Gabriel or visit the AHCS website. ARTH 400, 401 – required course and restricted to Art History Honours Students ARTH 441 – Independent Study Course (3 credits) Students wishing to complete an Independent Study are required to find a suitable project and supervisor. If your request is approved this course will count towards the 400 level program requirements. ARTH 490 – Museum Internship Course (3 credtis) Students wishing to complete the Museum Internship Course should arrange to meet with Maria Gabriel to review the process as well as Anne Turner from the Faculty of Arts Internship Office. This course does NOT fulfill 400 level program requirements; however, it will be counted towards the complementary course requirements. 18. Study Away/CREPUQ/Exchange Program Studying away enables you to develop broader perspectives on your fields of study. Study Away Must be currently registered at McGill, must have a CGPA of 2.70 or greater, must have completed a min. of 12 McGill resident graded credits at time of application.
