Derby Day, a run for the roses • Eye on the Prize The purpose of our project was to raise funds for our pledge to the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra. The project included viewing of the Kentucky Derby on big screen TVs , a themed menu, Derby Day games,, a Dixie Land jazz band for entertainment, live and silent auctions, and a hat contest. WFSL
Derby Day, a run for the roses • Readying the Jockeys September and October 2010 – Scouted locations November 2010 - Signed contract with Holiday Inn January 2011 - First committee meetings, menu tasting, decorations February 2011 – Bi-weekly committee meetings March and April 2011 – Weekly committee meetings May 7th – DERBY DAY, A RUN FOR THE ROSES! Derby Day, a run for the roses • Hats off to volunteers We had a committee chair and eight other committee members who organized decorations, food and drink, auctions, games, audio/visual, invitations and printing, publicity and organizing event volunteers. Twenty volunteers staffed the actual Derby Day. WFSL
