Trench Vocabulary • Trench- a deep ditch used for shelter from enemy fire • Parapet- front of the trench • Parados- rear of the trench • Fire-step- two or three foot ledge that allows one to see over the top of the trench • Trench foot- medical condition caused by prolonged exposure of the feet to damp, unsanitary, and cold conditions • Funk-holes- small areas scraped out of the side of a trench where soldiers would sleep during rain
Vocabulary • Queue- file, line, people waiting their turn • Billet- lodging for a soldier • Pettifogging- insignificant matters
Vocabulary • Barrack- a building or group of building for lodging soldiers • Latrine- toilet or something used as a toilet • Esprit de corps- a sense of unity among a group of persons closely associated in a task
Vocabulary • Gangrene- death of soft tissue by obstructed circulation • Tommy- rations distributed to troops • Munitions- materials or weapons used in war
