  3. Mission To promote the continuous availability of affordable pharmaceutical products meeting standards in safety, quality and efficacy, for Caribbean public health program and services, through inter- country and regional cooperation Francis Burnett, Managing Director, PPS

  4. Objectives – to: promote dialogue and share experiences in pharm proc harmonize norms, standards and admin procedures in pharm proc strengthen the capacity for purchasing and distributing essential drugs Foster technical cooperation among countries Francis Burnett, Managing Director, PPS

Scope of Work The network will focus on common issues relating to pharmaceutical procurement and supply mang’t, including: in pharm proc. and commodity mang’t for efficient, effective and transparent procurement mang’t through supply mang’t, pricing transparency and intellectual property regulation. Functions – The primary function of the network is to: - Provide a forum for agencies to share experiences, harmonize norms, standards and process, and foster cooperation in pharm. and supply mang’t - The network strengthens capacity and provides continuity in the develop. and implementation of the regional program of work Francis Burnett, Managing Director, PPS

Members – The Network’s mang't Committee: - Is responsible for managing, coordinating and overseeing development and implementation of the program of work - Support the organisation of meetings, working groups and workshops - Ensures continuity in the development of activities Francis Burnett, Managing Director, PPS

  9. - Ensures communication between members of the network - Facilitates the identification of expert and cooperation between countries - Identifies opportunities and mechanisms to strengthen technical capacity - Provides updated information to the Network • Members – The Network’s Mang't Committeecont’d Francis Burnett, Managing Director, PPS

  10. Composition - MOH, responsible CMS Manager - Director of national Procurement agency (if different to) Technical Partners - CARICOM Secretariat - PAHO Francis Burnett, Managing Director, PPS

  11. The Mang't Committee is composed of 2 permanent members and 3 rotating members Permanent members are: The Barbados Drug Service (BDS), PAHO/WHO collaborating centre in drug supply mang't. The OECS/Pharmaceutical Procurement Service (OECS/PPS) Non permanent members of the mang't Committee are rotated on an annual basis and are selected by members of the Network by consensus. The Secretariat PAHO will be the Secretariat to the Mang’t Committee and: - Provides technical and administrative support, and provide technical experts to the network in the development and implementation of its work program - Will act as a centre for the information distribution Francis Burnett, Managing Director, PPS
