P Chapter 4-Plot- Climax The climax is the part of the story which is like the big moment in the story where everything just comes together. • Teresa and Chuck find out the rest of the words from the maze maps. M Chapter 5-Mood This for me is a rather good replica of the metallic rod coming out of the griever. http://www.thetechgame.com/Forums/p=15209473.html Moodisthe felling a reader gets when reading the book. In this story the mood changes various times. The first example of this is at page 343 : “A skinny metallic rod burst out of the Grievers moist skin, unfolding into a long appendage with three spinning blades, which moved directly toward Thomas’s face.”(Dashner343) When I read this I feel fear for Thomas because his life is in danger.
S Chapter 5- Mood (continued) This is a good representation of what Griever might look like. http://mazerunner.wikia.com/wiki/Grievers Another example of mood is: “"It looked like an experiment gone terribly wrong-something from a nightmare. Part animal, part machine, the Griever rolled and clicked along the stone pathway. Its body resembled a gigantic slug, sparsely covered in hair and glistening with slime."(Dashner126)The mood is that there is a lot of suspense.
The closing doors represent when Thomas walks in as they close to save Alby and Minho. http://www.holyrosarycatholicschool.org/hrs/7th%20Classroom/Web%20Pages%202010/jessicar%20web%20page.htm S Chapter 5- Mood (continued) "Thomas knew he had no choice. He moved. Forward. He squeezed past the connecting rods at the last second and stepped into the maze. The walls slammed shut behind him, the echo of its boom bouncing off the ivy-covered stone like mad laughter."(Dashner112) We picked this part because we thought it very intriguing and it was scary as well.
T R Chapter 6- Theme and Resolution This is an example of a lab that looks like the one of the creators. antarctica.gov.au The theme is the moral or the lesson of the story. The theme of the story is always be brave, never give up. An example of this theme is when Thomas gets out in the maze to save Minho and Alby. A quote from the book to prove this is: "Thomas knew he had no choice. He moved. Forward. He squeezed past the connecting rods at the last second and stepped into the maze. The walls slammed shut behind him, the echo of its boom bouncing off the ivy-covered stone like mad laughter."(Dashner112) Another example is when Chuck jumps in the way of the blade to save Thomas. This is an act of bravery. The Gladers get out of the maze and the creators are revealed but they are not good people. They also learn about the Flare.
