Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation SCHOLARSHIP for SERVICE Program An EXCELLENT opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate, graduate or doctorate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to: 1. Receive a FULL scholarship 2. Be gainfullyemployed upon degree completion

The SMART Program goal: to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories. • Benefits: • Full tuition and education related fees (not meal plans, housing, or parking) • Stipend paid at a rate of $25,000 - $38,000 (depending on degree pursuing) • Paid summer internships • Health Insurance allowance up to $1,200 per calendar year • Book allowance of $1,000 per academic year • Mentoring • Employment placement after graduation • The employment obligation is a one-to-one commitment

Eligibility: • a U.S. citizen at time of application • 18 years of age or older as of August 1, 2014 • able to participate in summer internships at DoD laboratories • willing to accept post-graduate employment with the DoD • in good standing with a of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or higher • pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the disciplines identified by the program • Application Deadline: • August – Mid-December 2014 • Selection notifications in March 2015 • http://smart.asee.org / (202) 331-3544
