About NCSD • NCSD is a national, non-governmental membership organization whose members provide frontline STD programs & services • We have over 240 full and associate members in 65 different project areas • NCSD uses its expertise and experience to: • Inform public policy • Collaborate with the CDC to sustain and increase the quality of STD programs, services and resources across the U.S. and its territories • Educate and inform the public about the importance of sexual health and STD prevention STD Prevention through Intervention, Education and Communication

Current Initiatives Program Initiatives • Disparities work with American Indian/ Alaska Native populations • Focus on adolescent health Policy Initiatives: • Increase in funding for CDC-DSTDP • Federal stream of funding for comprehensive sex education (REAL Act) STD Prevention through Intervention, Education and Communication

  4. TA and Training • NCSD currently offers TA in the following forms: • Facilitated peer-to-peer resource linkage • Workshops at conferences and meetings • We also have in-house expertise in STD/HIV prevention curriculum development & client counseling facilitation • Native STAND curriculum • Hepatitis Integration Train the Trainer Curriculum • Ask, Screen, Intervene Training of Trainers STD Prevention through Intervention, Education and Communication

TA Specific to Internet Outreach • Development & release of National Guidelines for Internet-based STD and HIV Prevention: Accessing the Power of the Internet for Public Health • Rise in Infectious Syphilis in MSM Conference Call conducted July 14, 2008 • NCSD’s Program Operations Workgroup • Opportunity to convene a follow-up meeting to this one during the 2009 NCSD Annual Meeting • Will be held October 26 – 30, 2009 in Washington, DC STD Prevention through Intervention, Education and Communication
