  1. Høgskolen i Finnmark The friendly-looking building of Høgskolen is situated between Alta City and the woods. The atmosphere appears quite stress free and comfortable for learning and studying. There is a well equipped library, free accessible computer rooms, a canteen and a nice cafeteria, a big sports hall with climbing facilities, a fitness training room and an indoor swimming pool as well as a bookstore and Kroa, the school pub. In wintertime an illuminated cross-country track starts just behind the school. Where to live If you want to live in a student accommodation there are two different possibilities. Either you stay in Nyland, the closer one, just two minutes to walk to school, or in a typical Norwegian looking houses near Komsa which you can reach in 15 minutes walk from school and the centre. You can choose between a single room with shared kitchen and bathroom and a small apartment. Student life Well equipped kitchens are often meeting pointsand a place where either discussions or parties are going on. Kroa is another place where you can easily meet Norwegian students and take part in the active body of students and the social life. In addition the city has many places where students come together. UKA This week is a very special event which takes place in many university towns all over Norway. Plenty of activities organized from and for students are going on here in Alta. Whatever you prefer to do you can join sports activities, conserts and other cultural happenings and arrangements. We recommend to buy a clip card for the canteen. You will get each meal with a discount. to be aware of the pin boards in the hallways. You can get a lot of information there about special events. to join your fellow Norwegian students on their activities. You are always welcome! HØGSKOLEN
