Bright Object Aperture Operations for COS Lifetime Position 2 John Debes COS/STIS Team
A new detector position for COS • For the Far Ultraviolet (FUV) detector, extracted charge results in Gain sag and loss of sensitivity • This required a move to a new position on the detector, along with associated Enabling and Calibration programs (c.f. R. Osten, October 2012 TIPS/JIM)
Verifying the BOA • Broad charter to verify operations with the Bright Object Aperture (BOA) at the new lifetime position • Spot checks of spectrum position, spatial profile for all gratings • Additional checks on resolution and flux calibration for G130M
Resolution SMOV FWHM: 0.17 Å 12807 FWHM: 0.14 Å
Flux Calibration Absolute Flux calibration >1200 Å variance of ~7%/pixel
