What’s good art ? Good art should be unique, it should mean something to the reader, be creative and also entertaining. Not only that but sometimes its educational. I can justify my judgment by looking at each stanza in the poem it relating it to reality. I can also see what lines relate to the moral of the poem. Social, religious, and moral factors effect my poem because Laura Kasischke explains life death and communicating with a family member. In my opinion I like this poem. The difference between liking good art and thinking its good is that if you like it than it has potential and meaning to it. Thinking its good is when you use background knowledge to form it into a good piece of art. This poem is similar to a song because it has meaning to it and it grabs the readers attention. Also its shows emotion to the reader and its unique.
Cultural Her works were known for its intelligent, honest portrayal of domestic and familial life, its explosively accurate imagery and dense soundscapes, and its idiosyncratic use of narrative. Erika Krouse said “It is not enough to say that Kasischke's language is poetic, a word that has come to mean pretty. Rather, her writing does what good poetry does, it shows us an alternate world and lulls us into living in it.”
Social The poem Game by Laura Kasischke relates to life and death. This relate to society because kids are growing up thinking life is a game, but when they finally realize that its not a game and they try to turn their life back around, its too late. In the poem the author writes, “ I was willing to admit that all along, all along I’d know it was no game. I was a grown women, turning back, too late.
Historical Laura Kasischke mother had died from a snake bite when she was only a child. With her writing this poem I can relate to when my grandma had died when I was only a child. She wrote this poem October 2012. I can also relate to this poem because she explained how when she finally realized that life isn’t a game it was too late to get her life right. Some people now throw their life away and when they try to get their life back together, its too late.
Conclusion In conclusion Laura Kasischke’s poem Game is about life and death. Also how life is not a game also how to live each moment like it’s your last before its too late.
