CG becomes first service to accept women into OCS. 1975 – First women assigned to flight training, and admitted to the next CGA class. 1977 – Women go to sea on CG Cutters. 1979 – CAPT(ret) Beverly Kelley becomes first female commander of a U.S. ship of war. 1983 – ADM Gracey ensures women are not excluded from combat missions.
