Temple of Jupiter OptimusMaximus • Located between the Forum Romanum to the east and the Campus Martius to the north and west. • Temple was famous around Roman world and copied in provinces as far away as Britannia and Africa.
Temple of Jupiter OptimusMaximus • Built in 504BCE, by the fifth Tarquin King, LuciusTarquinisPriscus and completed by Rome’s last Tarquin king, LuciusTarquinisSuperbus. • It was later destroyed by lightening and fires three times and was repeatedly reconstructed. The last reconstruction was in 52AD by Emperor Domitian. There is no reminisce of the temple today.
