Foundation of Ottoman Empire (1299)Ottoman Empire was founded by Osman Gazi near Bilecik and Söğüt, today. Ottoman Empire was a multi-ethnic and multi-religious state. It was 1923 when Republic of Turkey was officially proclaimed.
Noah’s Pudding (Ashure)*Prophet Noah and his family are said to have gathered up all of the food remaining when they were on the Ark. Muslims prepare this delicacy yearly in remembrance of what Noah and his people had experienced. Sharing ashure is a symbolic representation of the unity and essential relationship of humans to one another and to their Creator. * Since a lunar year is 10 to 12 days shorter than a solar year, it comes 10 to 12 days earlier each year.

It is also known as the Sea Battle of Dardanelles.More than 500.000 soldiers lost their lives. But Allied forces couldn’t pass through Çanakkale Strait.

Birth of ProphetMuhammad(571) • National Sovereignty and Children's Day
Birth of Prophet Muhammad(571) He was born in Makka. God sent him as a ‘Mercy’ to the whole of creation. Muslims believe in all of the Prophets but as Muhammad(pbuh)’s message was foreveryone, Prophethood ended with him. His birth is celebrated throughout the week with many different activities to understand his message.
National Sovereignty and Children's Day On the 23rd April 1920, the Republic of Turkey Grand National Assembly was officially introduced and modern Turkey was born. The leader of the Turkish Independence War, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, dedicated that day to the children and from there, the National Sovereignty and Children's Day was born.

Father`s Day In 1926, a National Father's Day Committee was formed in New York City. Father's Day was recognized by a Joint Resolution of Congress in 1956. In 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father's Day to be held on the third Sunday of June. So Father's Day was born in memory and gratitude by a daughter who thought that her father and all good fathers should be honored with a special day just like we honor our mothers on Mother's Day.

Ramadan Fasting*During the month of Ramadan, Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, and marital sexual relations or satisfaction from dawn until sunset.Fasting, a type of worship for drawing closer to God, was ordered to purify the soul and train it in good deeds.* Since a lunar year is 10 to 12 days shorter than a solar year, Ramadan comes 10 to 12 days earlier each year so moves through the seasons, providing equal conditions for people living in different lands.
Turkish Republic Day (1923)On October 29, 1923, the Grand National Assembly proclaimed the Republic of Turkey. Atatürk was named as its President, Ankara as its capital, and the modern state of Turkey was born. This formally declared the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. Republic Day is celebrated throughout Turkey every year.

Ataturk’s Death (1938) Atatürk passed away from cirrhosis of the liver at 9.05 am on 10 November at Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul. The entire country mourns his passing. On 21 November his body is transported to Ankara and placed in a temporary tomb at the Ethnography Museum. On 10 November 1953 Atatürk's remains are interred in a newly completed mausoleum on a hill overlooking Ankara.
Teachers’ Day A day dedicated to teachers since 1981. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk thought and stated that new generation will be created by teachers. Atatürk was also considered as Prime Teacher , because he adopted a new alphabet for the newly founded Turkish Republic on 1923.
International Day for Tolerance It is an annual observance declared by UNESCO in 1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance. The special day is to remind people that building tolerance is often a matter of community and individual work, and not just the responsibility of governments.
