  1. Spacecraft Help Us Explore Beyond Earth Today we’ll read Chapter 1.3 about exploring space and complete some review activities. I will check out an Astronomy textbook to you today. It should go home and stay at home. I don’t have enough to give you more than one copy but you might be able to check one out from the library. See me if necessary. It is checked out to you and due back to me at the end of the semester. Please note any damage now and call me over to document it. You’ll be responsible for this book. Please be careful with it.

  2. 1.3 Spacecraft Help Us to Explore Beyond Earth While you are waiting for me to record each book do the following with your study guide: • Highlight the 4 vocabulary words. • In #2 Highlight the Main Idea #1 and #2 in their boxes. • For #3 highlight the words circle and each. • For #4 highlight the blank answer lines for each type of mission. ____________

  3. Textbook Hunt • What page does this reading begin on? • What unit is the section a part of? • What other sections are in this unit? • Why are we starting with #3? • What is different about your study guide than the book? • What is similar?

  4. Group Reading • I’m going to have us explore the chapter together. • You’ll use the sections headings to help you find the answers to the study guide. • Tonight your homework is to finish the reading and complete the study guide and extension activities that are due tomorrow. • On Friday, you’ll have an assessment over the material.
