Rigorous Courses We recommend taking challenging courses including: • Advanced Placement (AP Courses) Options in 11th grade: • College in the Schools (CIS Courses) • Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO).
South High Graduation Requirements and Recommended Course Sequencing (offerings may change; not all courses are offered every year)
Information for Sophomores • Visit your counselor at least once per semester • Take rigorous courses • Utilize tutoring services • Makeup missing credits • Use a planner • Option: take PSAT (if space is available)
10th Grade Courses • English 10 or Humanities 2 (AN & LA) • AP US History or AP Humanities 2 (AN & LA) • Chemistry or Honors Chemistry (AP Chemistry with teacher approval). • Appropriate math level: Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, or Pre Calculus.
10th Grade Courses • Appropriate level of a World Language. • All Nations must choose one: AVID or American Indian Culture /Academic Honors • Electives: AVID, PLTW, Career & Technical Education, Art , Music, PE & Health.
Available Supports • After school help from teachers • NHS tutors • APUSH tutoring
Strategies • Complete summer homework. • Use your planner to record assignments/tests. • Complete daily reading assignments. • Utilize study partners/groups. • Don’t procrastinate.
