Fluted • a decorative carving consisting of vertical indentations. • carved out/sunk FLUTED is concave (gouged out) and REEDED is CONVEX, built up. If you put your palm down and place your fingers tightly together and look at the back of your hand, that would simulate what REEDING is. A series of raised or beaded lines. If you put your fingers in clay and pulled them down, that would show you what FLUTED looks like.
