  2. Plate 60 Arteries (goes with blank worksheets) • Aorta – • Ascending – coronary arteries • Arch – brachiocephalic, L common carotid, L subclavian • Descending - thoracic & abdominal Coronary Arteries

  3. b. Brachiocephalic (Innominate)– arm/head; rt side only c. R/L Common Carotid – to head d. External Carotid – neck/face e.Internal Carotid – brain w/carotid baroreceptors-BP f. Subclavian – along clavicle to shoulder

  4. Axillary – armpit (axilla) • Brachial – arm to elbow • Radial – thumb side (common pulse point) • Ulnar - pinkie

  5. Celiac – 1st branch of abdominal aorta (stomach, spleen, liver) • Renal – kidneys

  6. Superior Mesenteric – upper GI (SI/upper colon) • Testicular/Ovarian – to reproductive organs • Inferior Mesenteric – lower GI (LI/rest of colon)

  7. Common Iliac – lower back (5th lumbar) • Internal Iliac – pelvic area • External Iliac – lower limbs • Femoral – thigh • Popliteal - knee

  8. Pulmonary Trunk/Arteries – lungs

  9. Plate 65 Veins • Radial • Ulnar • Brachial • Axillary

  10. Subclavian • Brachiocephalic – right and left • Superior Vena Cava

  11. External Jugular – superficial ; drains head/neck • Internal Jugular (larger/deep: brain/face) w/subclavian forms Brachiocephalic

  12. Inferior Mesenteric – lower GI to splenic then portal • Superior Mesenteric – upper GI to portal vein • Splenic – spleen to portal vein • Gastric – stomach to portal

  13. Hepatic Portal – all lower vessels to liver (filters nutrients/toxins)

  14. Great Saphenous – inside upper leg (superficial); used for heart bypass surgery • Popliteal – knee to femoral • Femoral – deep to iliac Popliteal vein

  15. External Iliac – outer pelvis • Internal Iliac – inner pelvis • Common Iliac – to IVC • Inferior Vena Cava – along spine to heart

  16. Renal – kidneys to IVC • Testicular/Ovarian – genitals to IVC/renal • Hepatic – liver to IVC

  17. Pulmonary – from lungs only vein w/hi O2 levels
