Magnetic Measurements of MQW(B-A) [unit 10] M. Buzio, R. Chritin, J. Dutour, J. Garcia TE-MSC-MM
Generalities • purpose: FIDEL model refinement considering the most recent definition of LHC powering cycles • Setup: spare MQW10 in bdlg. 867 – SSW (step 17 mm) • Main differences w.r.t. the 2004/2006 series test campaigns: • magnetization cycles must be done before the measurements to ensure the stability of the hysteresis cycle • measurements useful for the FIDEL model are done on the increasing current branch • Notes: • measurements on the decreasing current branch done to evaluate the width of the hysteresis loop (~ error of the series measurements). Not all points taken on the up branch need to be repeated (esp. in the central linear part)
2010 Program • MQWA & MQWB Configurations • Precycles : • 4 times 0 A-> +600 A -> -600 A -> 0 A [MQWB Ap1&2] • 4 times 0 A-> +710 A -> 0 A [MQWA Ap1] • 4 times 20 A-> +710 A -> 20 A [MQWA Ap1] • 4 times 30 A-> +710 A -> 30 A [MQWA Ap1] • 4 times 35 A-> +710 A -> 35 A [MQWA Ap1] • Measures (2 per series due to good reproducibility) : • 1,2,5,10,15,20,27,40,100,200,312,437,600 [MQWB Ap1&2] • 30,35, 38,40, 70,100, 200, 400,500, 561,610,710 [MQWA Ap1] • To come MQWA Ap2 (today) and then repeat everything for another spare magnet
Some remarks • Aperture 2 for MQWA to be done today • Then repeat measurements on another magnet • MQWB measurements looks similar to the 2009 campaign
