  24. Disaster Relief and Emergency Advanced teleMedicine Service in Central Asia (DREAMS-ASIA) • In the cooperation with the largest Emergency Medicine Center in Central Asia the project aims at: • Analysis and identification of priority health care needs in cardiology and surgery • Identifying, testing and of organizational, technical and economical approaches to establishing of a reliable integrated system of telemedicine support to emergency and rescue operations in situations of natural disasters typical for Central Asia. • Deployment of the core working system serving identified top-priority practical needs. • Conduct high-level research of telemedical problems • Scientific evaluation of the core telemedicine system • Make the conditions favorable for commercial development both regionally and internationally • Uzbekistan

Building an Early Warning System for Public Health Surveillance in Uzbekistan • The project will create bioterrorism (BT) threat awareness and will help to develop in Uzbekistan a computer – based public health surveillance system (PHSS) to provide early detection and warning of bioterrorists attacks. • The main goal of the project is develop theoretical and practical underpining of new science enquiry in order to answer on a set of research questions that need to be addressed to facilitate the applied work in building early warning systems. The fundamental questions are: which data are useful for early detection? What detection method are optimal in means of sensitivity, specificity and timeliness? • The project will be resulted by new algorithm for early detection and Policy Memoranda to Authority of Uzbekistan through Ministry of Health(MoH) dedicated to problems of PHSS elaboration and implementation. • In the long-run, the project aimes to bring awareness in needing to create computer-based PHSS designed to enhance early detection of bioterrorism events. • Uzbekistan
