Information about polyester • Polyester is man made in machines using terephthalic acid a petroleum product with ethylene glycol and another product known as antifreeze. When the chemicals are heated up very hot together they form a new chemical called polymer also known as polyester,as the polymer cools it becomes a thick syrup. It is forced through a tiny hole in a metal disc called a spinneret,on contact with air it becomes like string.
How cotton and polyester are joined • The cotton and polyester strings are put on a machine called a tablet weaver ,they are then passed through a square metal card with holes in the face called a tablet. Once they have passed through the machine they go to another machine called a loom to be woven into cloth, then the pattern in cut out of the cloth and sewn together to make the hoodie.
