Who was there first • Greeks referred to the original inhabitants as Iberians • According to research the first Iberians were thought to have arrived there between 5000-3000 B.C. • Some believe that they came from eastern Mediterranean. • And others believe they were related to the founders of the megalithic culture (UK, Ireland, France) • The most advanced Iberians was the theTartessos
Celtics 1200 B.C. • Celtic tribes entered the Iberian peninsula from the north • When they got there they mixed the Iberians and started the celt-iberian race.
Phoenicians 1100 B.C. • Phoenicians started to form colonies • The most important colonies were Gadir (now cardiz)Malaca (today's Malaga) and Abdera (today's Adra, in Almeria).
Carthaginians 228 B.C. • Invaded Spain and conquered large parts of it • Carthaginians most important colonies were the island Ibiza and Cartegena.
