VisuNet XT eXTreme computing - PC9700 Brian Alvarado, HMI PPM
Why we developed XT? • Current solutions do not perform; prone to failures and long repair times • Dissatisfied with the outdated computing solution available today The industry told us…Rig Monitors need to: • Withstand the environmental obstacles imposed by the extreme weather conditions common to energy exploration and drilling • Safely encase computing capabilities that support leading edge software applications
VisuNet XT • New rig floor PC operator workstation • Ruggedized cast aluminum housing (357 marine grade alloy) • Intel i7 Quad Core processor (2.1 GHz) • Sunlight readable display • -40°C to 65°C operating temperature • ATEX/IECEx Zone 2 • Class I/Div. 2 & Class I/Zone 2
VisuNet XT • 15” (1024 x 768) • 19” (1280 x 1024) • Fanless operation • Optically bonded touch screen • 100-240 VAC or 18-30VDC
VisuNet XT • Slim form-factor • less than 6” (15.2 cm ) deep • Light weight • 27 lbs/12.3 kg for 15” (38.1 cm) • 38 lbs/17.2 kg for 19” (48.9 cm) • IP66 and NEMA 4X rated • Heater option for down to -40°C operation (Q3 release) • Panel mount, Yoke mount, and 100 mm VESA mount
VisuNet XT - Options • Multi-mode Fiber Optic LAN (ST-Fiber) • Dual LAN connections • WLAN (802.11 a/b/g/n)
VisuNet XT MTL-STD-810G Tested • Vibration 2.2G RMS, 20-2000HZ, 1 hr per axis (Operational) 3.1G RMS, 20-2000HZ, 1 hr per axis (Transportation) • Shock 40G peak, 11 msec, 3-axis (Operational) 40G peak, 11 msec, 3-axis (Transportation)
VisuNet XT – High performance PC • Processor Options • Intel i7-2710QE (2.1 GHz) • Celeron B810 (1.6 GHz) • Up to 8GB RAM • 120 GB SSD • Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit)
Thermal Management • Completely sealed unit dissipates heat without use of cooling fans! • Heat pipes are the key and used in conjunction with the enclosure as a highly effective heat sink for the processor • LCD and LED light rails dissipate to the bezel bypassing the heat transfer through the enclosure
VisuNet XT – High performance PC Photo courtesy of http://www.overclock.net Heat pipe are essentially a passive heat transfer device with an extremely high effective thermal conductivity The heat pipe is filled with a small quantity of working fluid Heat is absorbed by vaporizing the working fluid The vapor transports heat to the condenser region where the condensed vapor releases heat to a cooling medium
Membrane Keypad • LEDs • Power • Disabled touchscreen • Heater User configurable function keys (optional) Display on/off Brightness Controls Touchscreen on/off Right Mouse click
I/O Connections • Dual LAN or LAN/Optical Fiber LAN • 2 x USB, 1 x RS-232, 1 x RS-484, 1 x DI/DO, Audio, VGA • 1500V Isolation on RS-232, RS-485, and DI/DO • Field replaceable fuses
Daylight Readability Photo courtesy of http://www.dontech.com/optical-bonding.html • High-bright LED backlit displays • Hardened 5-wire resistive touch screen • Touch screen optically bonded to display • Optical bond reduces internal reflection for better contrast in high ambient light
Hardened Touch Screen • A micro-thin sheet of borosilicate glass layered on top of touch screen with chemically strengthened rear support glass providing • Abrasion and scratch resistant • Resistant to flames, chemicals, and solvents • If the substrate breaks, the broken glass shards are safely held behind the glass/polyester top layer which will remain intact
Field Maintainable • Power Supply • SSD • Front Display
Yoke Mount • Pedestal with yoke mount • Rotates 360° • Optional Sun shield • Optional keyboard tray • Pedestal with 100 mm VESA mount also available
