What are the characteristics of the ideal DLC? • offers free access to a world-class education • empowers people with common interests an education that would improve their lives or communities in which they live • includes video lectures, interactive assessments, peer assessments and • promotes collaboration/communication with teachers and students • provides open educational resources • encourages mastery of skills • provides professional development for online education professionals

What features of the ideal DLC set it apart from and above others? • allows global participation to connect students • narrows the gap between online education and real-world impact • connects students with native speakers of the languages they are studying (I’m a foreign language teacher) • promotes multicultural friendships and collaboration • Respects, connects and protects of course!

What are the qualities needed for citizens to join an ideal DLC learners and educators: • a desire to learn/teach • ability to communicate effectively and respectfully educators: • credentials/qualifications to teach mastery of their subject • ability to differentiate instruction and knowledge of instructional design • effective feedback skills • online teaching certification/degree
