  2. ZEPHYRUS • Zephyrus was the warm and gentle god of the west wind and one of the four wind gods (Anemoi). Zephyrus brought storms in autumn and was feared as a destroyer of crops. • His most famous myth was the story of his rivalry with Apollo over the love of Hyakinthos.

  3. CHLORIS • Chloris is the Greek goddess of flowers and the wife of Zephyrus. • Her Roman equivalent is Flora and translated her name means green-buds. • Zephyrus kidnapped Chloris, later marrying her, and gave her dominion over spring.

  4. Random Facts • The word chlorophyll, which is a green pigment involved in photosynthesis, gets its name from Chloris. • Chlorine also gets its name from Chloris because when it is in gas form it is a greenish-yellow color. Top Right: The Chloris Rose Right: The Chloris Bird
