  3. Step 1 • On your own or with 1 partner choose a spot on the map for your city • Name your city • Create your patron god • What does your god look like? (draw its image or symbol) • Why do you worship this god? • What are 2 of your god’s responsibilities? Prepare to share 

  4. Step 2 • Join with 1 other group • You must now combine your gods • Create a new name for your god. • What are 2 responsibilities of your god? • How has your god’s image changed? Prepare to share 

  5. Last Step • What if we all combined into one? • What would we do then?

Egyptian Theocracy In Life After Death Pharaoh became the Ram Headed Sun God after death and travelled through the underworld Pharaoh’s subjects went to great pains to preserve his body, prepare his tomb with spells and servants, and protect his final resting place They did this to ensure the sun continued to rise • Pharaoh WAS the sun god reborn and ruled by divine right • Priests advised him on what their god would want him to do • The people did not question government or vote • In general citizens had the freedom to pursue the life the wanted

Homework • Design your own theocracy • Who would be in control? • What would the rules for your society be? • Would you base these rules on an existing religion or a new one? • What types of ceremonies or rituals would you have? • How would you view the afterlife? • As the leader, when you die how will they handle your body and soul? • Would you rule as a living god or just with the god’s authority? • What is your god like?
