1931 First CSEA Convention held in the State Capitol. 1931 CalPERS established after voters approve CSEA-sponsored Prop 5. Where it all started
What we’ve achieved • 1933 CSEA establishes first group insurance plan and state employee credit union. • 1934 CSEA wins establishment of civil service system. • 1937 CSEA wins salaries comparable to private sector Gov, Culbert Olson signs CSEA bill giving state employees a $15 per month raise (1942)
What we’ve achieved 1947 CSEA wins 40 hour week 1961 CSEA wins first state health care contribution 1972 First state employee strike Gov. Earl Warren signs bill for $2 million in salary adjustments (1949)
What we’ve achieved 1972 First state employee strike – state water project workers win wage increases up to 12.5 percent
What we’ve achieved 1977 CSEA wins passage of Dills Act, with collective bargaining rights for state workers CSEA legislative committee meets with candidate Jerry Brown in 1975
What we’ve achieved 1979 CSEA wins double override of governor’s veto of pay increases
What we’ve achieved 1982 First collective bargaining contracts
What we’ve achieved 1984 CSEA affiliates with SEIU and AFL-CIO 1988 CSEA reorganizes into divisions. 1990 Affiliate incorporation authorized. Supervisors incorporate in 1992.
What we’ve achieved 2005-2009-Reorganized into a modern federation of autonomous affiliates
